The 12 best STEM Christmas presents for kids in 2023

105 STEM Activities book

It’s that time of year again when gifting can often seem difficult or lack authenticity.

I truly believe that giving a STEM gift is a great idea as it’s educational and can keep children engaged for far longer than some other presents.

If you have friends or relatives who don’t know what to get your kids – please feel free to share this post with them for inspiration!

Of course, I’m going to suggest my brand new book (that has been released in paperback today!), however I’ll also suggest some other great engaging gifts that will keep kids entertained and learning for hours!

Above all, I hope your festive season is filled with joy and many happy memories xx

First up (as I’m so delighted it’s finally published!) is the weeSTEMs book: 105 STEM Activities. This book is a combination of loads of the activities that have been shown on weeSTEMs mixed with brand new never-seen-before themes.

There are 15 different themes within the book; each exploring 7 different concepts through a range of activities. Each activity can be tailored to suit the learning needs of children as young as one year old all the way up to approximately 12 years old (although even I learned new things throughout the book so there really isn’t an age limit)! The entire book is also designed to cater to sibling groups and families of all shapes and sizes.

I hope you love it as much as I do!

Next is a fabulous little advent calendar to get your festive season off to a STEMy start – these ones are always a massive hit in my house – especially with the variety of rocks that you get.

We always absolutely love a build-your-own robot – and this one is particularly fun. Especially since it’s solar-powered.

Another great STEM kit is a crystal growing kit. We can never have enough of these! And these ones look absolutely awesome 🤩

If you are buying for a kid you don’t know too well – I always go for a kit like this one below as it caters to all interest needs and ability levels. I also love that the kits include so much apparatus that can be used time and again!

For slightly older learners, this circuit board is a great introduction to circuit knowledge.

One that I am definitely buying this year is a rock tumbler! I’ve put it off for years due to the expense – but this one looks like a great price and will be much used and much loved!

I have never seen nor heard of making your own markers – so I was very excited to stumble across this product! And will definitely be getting one to try for myself! Anything where my kids can make something that they then use is a win in my eyes!

I’ve created this great wee stocking filler for all the budding scientists out there: My Science Journal is a notebook for children to record everything about their science experiments (including their title, hypothesis, equipment needed, process, results, conclusions & what they learned).

Of all the colourful tiles on the market, these rainbow shapes are by far my favourites! They are a wonderful quality and a firm favourite toy during all play dates. You can read my review of this product here for ways to play with them!

For older children, perhaps a robot monorail is more their thing? This one has 26 possible track setups for them to figure out and explore.

And finally, as always, I highly recommend getting yourself a wildlife camera – the nocturnal and diurnal animals that it spots that you had no idea were passing your house is incredible!
